Filmrot is really struggling with the idea of Bloom as YB. In fact the whole idea of a YB film isn't going down well at all. Despite being US based they caught onto YB by listening to Joe Wylie on BBC Radio 1.
"To be perfectly honest, I really hope this turns out to be wrong or just drops dead in the water as I think this is the last thing Bond needs! Can we say "Teen Agent" anyone?"
Bit harsh methinks.
Anthony Horovitz, author of the Alex Rider stories, hits out at Higson and YB in the Telegraph today. He says Silverfin, "is is not really a spy thriller at all - it is more in the tradition of Enid Blyton or John Buchan, curiously, than of Ian Fleming." Ouch.
There's lots of speculation around the web about Orlando Bloom playing YB in a Miramax film. It's strange that people are so fascinated by which actor gets the part, be it OB (Old Bond) or YB. But whichever way, Pete at A Perfectly Cromulent Blog says:
"Killer eels. I sincerely hope they also a) shriek or b) have frickin' laser beams attached to their heads."
Here's the official YB site -- must be early days but look forward to seeing it develop.
